JOB TITLE:                                         Social Services Director

DEPARTMENT:                            Hubbard County Human Services Department

HOURS PER WEEK:                            FT, FLSA exempt position (minimum of 40 hours/week, 8:00 to 4:30 p.m.)

SALARY RANGE:                                 $81,150.37 (step 1) - $105,883.02 (step 10) annually DOQ, full benefit package

COUNTY DATA:  Hubbard County has a population of 20,658 and is 999 square miles in size.  Park Rapids, MN is the Hubbard County seat.  The county is home to tourism, agriculture and logging.

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY:  This position is appointed by the Hubbard County Board of Commissioners and is responsible for the planning, managing, administering, coordination, monitoring, budgeting and reporting associated with the provision of Economic Assistance, Social Service and Transit programs designed to meet the needs of County residents and to assure compliance with established County, State and Federal regulations, guidelines and procedures.  The position also is responsible for completion of authorized hiring, supervision and evaluation of assigned staff, handling employee concerns and problems, administering discipline and other personnel actions for this department with the assistance of the Human Resource Office.  The Director also serves as liaison between the Agency, community groups, service providers and advisory committees.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Possess Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in social work, psychology, or sociology preferred, or closely related field including public administration, business administration or the human services field.  Additional experience needed as follows: five (5) years of administrative or supervisory experience in public or private social services agency involving supervision of social service programs preferred, fiscal operations or economic assistance of social service programs or managerial experience in a public or private social services agency performing work according to complex federal/state regulations in social services programs and fiscal operations or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  A Masters Degree in social work, psychology, public administration or related field may be substituted for one year of the supervisory experience requirement.  Relevant fields of knowledge needed to perform the job include the following: personnel management, fiscal management, and community needs assessment, program development and evaluation, communication, budgeting, public health programs, human service programs and management information systems. Training in leadership and regional coordination, fostering community relations, collaboration, interpretation of state and local government responsibilities and laws is also required in this position.  Applicant must possess knowledge of technological communication systems and other data management systems.  Must have and maintain a current valid MN driver license or be capable of getting one prior to established hire.

Maintenance II

 

JOB TITLE:                                      Maintenance II, located at the North Shop

 

DEPARTMENT:                              Hubbard County Highway Department

 

HOURS PER WEEK:                     Full time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

SALARY RANGE:                           $17.5418 (step 1) to 22.8881 (step 10) per hour, DOQ full benefit package (expected start wage $17.5418)

 

DUTIES:                                                          Under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent,  Assistant Engineer and Engineer the position includes but not limited to the operation of heavy equipment: motor grader, dozer, loader, backhoe, tandem/single axle trucks, tractor/mower etc. in maintaining, shaping, restoring, constructing and surfacing roads and snow plowing roads with heavy equipment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:      Two year Vo-Tech education with 3 years experience in the operation of heavy equipment and must have a Minnesota Class A license or obtain one.  Equivalent work experience will be considered.

PT Dispatcher/Jailer

 JOB TITLE:                                PT Dispatcher/Jailer

 DEPARTMENT:                          Sheriff’s Office

 HOURS PER WEEK:                   Part time – Shifts may include days, nights, week days, weekends and/or holidays

 SALARY RANGE:                       10 step wage range w/expected start of $17.2501 progressing to 22.5075/hour

 DUTIES:                                            Dispatch Duties:  Take and dispatch calls for the Sheriff’s Office, Police Departments, Ambulances, Fire Departments, DNR, State Patrol, etc.  Answer 911 phone lines.  Operate radios, coordinate communications between officers or other departments, dispatch backup personnel and/or vehicles, maintain radio logs, initiate required reports, general typing/paperwork and computer queries.  Jail Duties:  Intake/releases, searches, well-being checks, inmate escorts, feeding of inmates, and necessary jail reports.  Other duties may be assigned by the Sheriff or Jail Administrator.  Must be able to attend training and other courses as required.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:    Must have two years post secondary education or equivalent work experience in a related field preferred, be minimum of eighteen years of age and in good physical condition. Public relation skills are very important.  Must be able to work well in an emergency situation and under stress, possess a valid MN drivers license and pass a physical examination.  Computer skills required.  A thorough criminal background check will be completed on all qualifying applicants.  No felony convictions of record.
